A message from Sid
Okay, I've reached the point where I've had this novel (ette?) rejected by quite a few publishers, which is a shame as I really like the story (It still makes me laugh out loud in places. Maybe I shouldn't go to those places! Ho Ho Ho!) but I am beginning to see some of its shortcomings. So I have decided to release it, free to the world (so noble) and ask people (i.e. you) to download it, read it (better still give it to some children to read) and hopefully give me a bit of constructive feedback. It is aimed at slightly older readers aged 9-14 but the style of humour is of the usual Sidney variety. I really would appreciate any time that you might be able to spend looking at it. I have included a brief blurb below and made it available in two formats, PDF and kindle book format.
Anyway, many thanks for your help in advance. Have a mince pie.
Cheers
Sid

King Cody's Clocks  -  A short comic novel for children by Sid River

Mad as a hatstand, old King Cody XIV is obsessed with clocks. He has them all over the palace, in every corner, on every mantelpiece and even embroidered on the Royal underpants. Two hundred and twenty five clocks in all, of every conceivable size, shape . . . and sound. But the cranky old King is still not happy!

“The bongs are all wrong . . . !” he complains to Plodikins, his long suffering butler. For no matter how often King Cody (who is not the sharpest sword in the armory) winds and sets his clocks to exactly the same time every day, he can never experience the ultimate tune and make them all chime simultaneously! At the suggestion of Plodkins, the King assembles the finest minds (and the creakiest bones) in the Kingdom to solve his 'Universal Bong' problem. This leads the incompetent Royal Sir through a series of madcap trials and tribulations that see him training to run at the speed of light, drinking magic potions with nude consequences, encountering a strange metallic dragon in his beer cellar, having unexpected problems with the space time continuum and overlooking the completely obvious in his quest to experience 'The universal bong!'. Will he succeed? Only time and several painful shin injuries will tell!
